Imagine doing a photoshoot for a client, it might take up many GB of data. Then imagine having many clients, how much TB of data you will accumulate in a matter of days, months and years. You will need a proper NAS for your business to scale.
For a start, we would recommend getting at least a minimum of 4 bay NAS, or better a 6 bay NAS. For a 4 bay NAS, consider getting the Synology DS923+ which you can further add another 5 bays in the future by adding the DX517 extension (Total of 9 bays). It will get you between 54TB (4 bays) to 126 TB (9bays) of data storage capacity, also according to the capacity of hard drives you install to your NAS. For a 6 bay NAS, consider getting the Synology DS1621+ which can further scale up to 16 drives (by adding 2x DX517 extension). The DS1621+ can also allow you to edit 4k videos from your NAS without having to manually dragging the files to your PC to work on.

It can detect faces and sort them locally in your NAS without remote internet processing required. That way, you can be rest assured of the privacy of your clients images. Having to deal with personal images being leaked over the internet can be a disastrous event which might even cause you your whole business. Proper client protection data is upmost priority in a photography business.
Furthermore, it is easy to share photos with your clients using the Synology Photos app. Clients can easily view images easily. You can even set the privacy settings such as allowing downloads, view-only or allow editing. For example, you might send a bunch of photos to your clients and ask them to pick which images to choose from for processing.
Moreover, you can also edit images locally on your NAS. You do not need to save images in your Windows PC then painfully transfer into your MacOS of your colleague for further editing.
